We started 7 months before Super Bowl. We wrote scripts. Lots of scripts. We had buckets and sub-buckets and platforms and versions. We wallpapered war rooms. There were interns and creative directors and off-site freelancers feverishly churning away, greedily coveting the prospect of a Super Bowl commercial like Gollums. And after all that, it eventually came down to an off the cuff, “what if…” that spared us the cruel fate of lying in a heap of other battered and bloodied creatives, gasping for air and reconsidering our life choices…this time, anyway.
